Default Front End fluid in a sportsman 800

A friend of mine has a 2006 Sportsman 800 and he just changed the rear end fluid in it and in the manual it said you could use 80-90 weight gear oil. The manual calls for a special fluid for the front end. Problem is the nearest dealer is 60+ miles away for that fluid. Is there something else he can run it that can be bought at a auto parts store? He was able to get the engine oil at O'reilys for it.
Thanks in advance.

No Way, use the factory juice. Specially formulated for that use. Others will post about the problems they've faced by substituting. Drive the 60 and pay the price.

Should be Polaris Premium Demand Drive fluid, one quart should get you about six changes.

About 5 oz. of fluid if you don't have Automatic descent.

Been there done that-lol-I had nothing but headaches with the 4x4 system engaging and dis-engaging till I used the Polaris On Demand Fluid then all my problems were solved. I didn't think such a small thing would have such a impact on the proper operation of the 4x4 especially since a lot of people said you can use ATF or Regular gear oil 80-90 depending on who I talked to but NO DICE, take the time and drive--while your at it buy 2 so next time you don't have to go to drive they are roughly $8.95 a quart and well worth it.
