Took my atv out 2 weeks ago and went through a mud hole that submerged half the motor. I killed the motor and went to go get somebody to help me pull it out. After that I can't the atv to start anymore. I checked for spark and I have it and I did a compression test and my compression is way low its at 40 lbs. But I have used starting fluid and everything and still won't start. It tries and back fires alot but no go.

What do I need to do to get it running???

 

i dont think half way submerged motor would really hurt anything? 40lbs is pretty bad were you really giving it or what? maybe u blew it ?

 

no I knew I was stuck and wouldn't get out on my own so I didn't even try. And the bike still turns over with no problems, so I don't think the piston seized because I let it idle for a while before I turned off and went to get somebody.

 

Drain every thing. then look at the reeds.
