just to clarify - your own credit checks and periodic checks from compainies do not appear on the credit reports loan agencies receive. They only have access to your requests for credit.

If you get your free credit report YOU will see all inquiries, even those inquiries from companies looking to offer you a promotional. However - these do NOT appear when loan agencies pull your report.

 

I live in the sticks and have to drive damn near everywhere so i don't mind driving the extra hour to get to a good dealership I trust. I bought an 07 tundra 4x4 from a dealership in the cities cause I saved 400 dollars and they gave me free oil changes for life. When I need an oil change every few months, I just plan a trip down there with the wife and we get the oil changed and then go out shopping or to the casinos. The local (little) guys wouldn't match the price saying that they could get more if they didn't sell to me. I pointed out that they would make money off of me in the long run by servicing my vehicle otherwise I'd be taking my vehicle in for service elsewhere. I guess they can afford to lose the business.

I'm actually finding out that the larger dealerships in this area are more customer service orientated then the "little guys" I have here locally. I always thought that it was the other way around.

I would think that with the way the economy is, they can't be selling 8000+ machines everyday. I would think, and kinda expect, that the salesmen at least put forth an effort to try and please the customer.

It's too bad that the place I bought my boat from a few years ago doesn't sell polaris. They were nice to deal with.

 

For what it's worth I'd call those other dealerships to see if they have a Red X2 in stock. If they don't then don't waste the trip.

Something I only recently discovered is that dealer trades are not always required by the manufacturer. It's always a question of potential profit for the dealer, so some dealers are less willing to trade. One dealer may have a particular model that they expect to get a higher price on, so another dealer is basically taking their extended profit. In other words, if Dealer A only has green quads (and they aren't selling) and Dealer B has red quads -- which are selling, but for a higher profit margin -- then Dealer B may simply not want to trade. Or if Dealer B does trade they want to get part of their perceived "lost" profit in the trade. That's probably why the local dealer is saying he will only make $4 in profit.

hey guy's when i financed my wheeler they sent me a polaris star card isn't that the way it is any more? cause the card can be used at any polaris dealership just like a credit card

 

Trailblazer, Watch out with the Star Card Credit. I had a very bad experience and from looking the card up on the net I found out that others are having problems also. The Star Card is managed by HSBC. Just be warned.

 

Well, I called around and will most likely be heading to the twin cities tomorrow to buy one. Just wondering if the 500 x2 is going to fit in my truck, 07 tundra double cab. I'll be getting the 2500# warn winch also. See my post above. Thanks

 

What problems should we look for on the StarCard - I have my '07 800 on it now with a little left to pay.

And good luck with the X2, I think it'll fit - worst case scenario - with the tail gate down.

This is correct. It used to affect your credit score, but last year or so there was some legislation passed so that it will not affect you. This allows you like a two week period to "shop around" without any negative effects to your score.

I would agree that if you were approved by polaris (doesn't matter which dealer) than just ask for your application or some sort of verification and take it to another to save some time and heartache. Otherwise, the polaris financing co. (HSBC) should have something on file.

That's too bad, but unfortunately, they are just salesman, whether auto or atv, we have all had bad experiences. I wouldn't **** on them if they were on fire! Find another dealer!

 

The credit co. (Star Card) lost my final payment. When I questioned them about it they said I never made the payment. After gathering all my information, writing them and my attorney general a letter they finally found THEIR mistake and gave me credit for the final payment plus a release of a clear title. This took several weeks and a lot of phone calls. Plus the expense of several registered letters.

 

That is defininately NOT typical of dealerships. If it is, then NONE of the several dealerships I've been to is typical.

They should honor the deal. If they don't, screw 'em. Tell everyone you know how bad they screwed you, and ask them not to buy ANYTHING from this stealership.
