Polaris Hard shifting.
#1
I was told by a Polaris mechanic today that the Sportmans should shift smoothly from Low,high, reverse.
The new 08 sportmans we just purchased shift rather hard, and my wife experenced a time last week end it seemed stuck in reverse and she was unable to move the lever. She was on relitivly flat ground and not pined on any obsticles.
Neither one of US have any ATV experence so we have nothing to compare it to.
need some opinions.

my two Sp 450's (2006) were stiff at first..........They seem to free up as the miles get put(Time) on with age...............2100 miles and 1600 on my wife's......I don't hear here talk about the shifting anymore....
Maybe my wife's arms got some muscle in them after she started to ride!!...LOL...LOL
......I am sure they will be easy over time........Caper.....

My 500 shifts fairly smoothly, but my 800 doesn't. One thing you have to do with the Polaris is to give the shifter a firm jerk. Don't ease it from position to position. If it seems stuck, use your body weight to "rock" the ATV back and forth a little, then try it again. That's what I have to do most of the time to shift the 800.
