shift or not to shift?
Me, myself have owned a few 4-wheelers, Suzuki 230 quad-runner, 230 quad sport and my favorite for the short time it ran the 250 quad racer. all of which you had to shift. then a friend of mine bought a polaris and said he loved it. I told him i really didnt trust the automatic (at the time i heard they were a boat load of problems) i didnt like the idea and i thought it would never catch on with the public. UNTIL I RODE ONE! Now i wouldnt own anything other than an automatic. Too each his/her own but i wanted to post this too see what others thought of the whole automatic vs. manual shift thing. thanks to all that reply!!

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

I've owned both and like the automatics better. I do carry an extra belt for each quad but haven't needed it yet. I miss the downshifting but even with EBS you get about the same effect as downshifting on a 2wd. The ADC is even better than both. The only other thing that a CVT can't do, that I know of, is jump starting by rolling down a hill and putting it in gear like I could with the Lakota.

My first ATV was a Honda Rancher ES, shifting was fun at first then got to be a little irritating. I got onto a Polaris Sportsman and haven't ridden anything else since then.
I think the Rincon has a great concept, Automatic if you want, or button shifting manual if you want. If they lower their gearing for first gear, and give a locking front differential for next year, I will look seriously into getting one.

I have a warrior now and do miss the simple way of my sportsman. I don't mind changing my own gears and its more fun to play around with. only time I don't like it is when I get stuck on a knarly hill waiting for someone to go and I have to get going again. not a lot of fun when it'll stand straight up with ya if you let out too fast or all of a sudden get traction. I agree though, a manuel for sport quads and autos for utes
