The Outlaw works great out in the desert and dunes for me. in one race there was this huge rock on this hill it had aluminum all over I went over like it was not there</end quote></div>
Same here Bill.
I love my Outlaw 525 IRS in the sand. Especially on busy weekends when the dunes get rutted up. The IRS soaks up the rough stuff while still always putting power to the ground. And off camber jumps are nothing to an IRS equiped machine.

The Outlaw 525IRS is a great quad and I love it but a raptor was my second choice but I stayed with the Outlaw because of how bad the trails are where I ride. EFI was not a consern at all for me because there are no huge changes in elevations in Illinois. I just read an article about the Can-am 500 renegade! You may want to look into that!! I think it will make Polaris redesign the scrambler or discontinue it.
What ever you do take your time!!!! ALL quads are fun in the sand! Think about the places you ride the majority of the time. As for changing the jetting on the Outlaw it is real easy once you get used to it but still not something I would want to do on the trail. I think you should be fine if you jet it for the middle. You may notice a small diff. in performance but I am not sure as I don't ride many diff elevations.

Just to add my two cents, I thing the outlaw if it had EFI would be great my wifes Kaw is a great racing sport quad (it is light as hell) but does it get stuck good when we hit the trails! SO I would say get the raptor. I to live in IL and have no concern of elevation changes (at least more then a few hundred) and we trail ride ALOT so my IRS just kicks the snot out of anyone with a solid axle and no crazy rear end side bumps. I have had my quad on a MX track and it does quite well keeping up with everyone and jumping very well. I have no complaints on my Outlaw 525IRS the KTM engine has been a blast!
Not sure how your dealers are but here I just drove to a couple different ones and drove the quads I was interested in and hands down the KTM/Outlaw fit me fine!
