Default marked gas

Lots of farmers around here have diesel pickups and also have dyed off-road diesel for tractors and such. Many of the guys have a large transfer tank in the back or one built into the toolbox that they use to fuel up tractors and farm equipment in the field. What many have done is to very, very carefully hide a fuel line from the transfer tank and tie it into the main fuel line in a very carefully concealed location. They run regular diesel in the stock truck tank but have the ability to switch over to the dyed fuel. If a trooper or DOT guy shoves a stick into their truck's tank all they find un-dyed diesel. They can drive around for months with just a few gallons in the truck tank because nearly all of the time they're running off their transfer tank that they have spliced into their fuel system. The only time they run the stock tank is to use up the old fuel before they change blends in the fall.

It sure makes for a long range diesel pickup when you have a 100 gallon transfer tank in the bed of the truck.

Here in WV they use dye in the diesel and if you're caught running off-road or dyed diesel on the highway the DOT can fine you $1000 per gallon of it in your tank. They have frequent stops that all diesels have to stop at and they can do a test by simply sticking a strip of paper in your tank.</end quote></div>

they have on and off rd deisle here as well as ive ben checked a few times by the dot. they stick a metal rod in the tank to check for off rd and your right big fine if your caught. we dont have dyed gas here.</end quote></div>

Yep here in Maine because of all the farms and wood cutting industry the DOT sets up spot checks on the side of the road randomly, I see them on Rte2 all the time. Man what a difference in cost of fuel once you add "Road Tax" its crazy.
