It's not only salesmen. At my camp there is a neighbor who swears that his nefew's stock Banshee could hit 100MPH. I tried to talk some sence into his thick skull...but to no avail.
He still swears, to this day, that that Shee made it from the lake to the entrance of the park in 12 minutes. Just to show you the real deal: I have made the run in around 40 minutes doing 50 to 60 on the Scram...
Some people believe what they want!

How do you handle the ignorant? Try to educate them. Otherwise let them live in their fantasy world.
Here is an example that happened last month. The boy scouts were coming back from a campout, the wife & I had been riding, the quads were still on the trailer. We pull up to pick up the kid & the scout master comes up to me & says "Oh, those are nice, are you teaching you kid about pollution, & tearing up the environment, and don't you worry about his safety?". I tried to stay cool. I told him that the suburban that he drives does more to harm the environment than my quad. I also told him more people were hurt playing sports than riding ATV's. To make a long story short, he didn't listen to what I was saying. This worries me because his narrow views might influence some of the kids.
People have a preconceived veiw about ATV's & its very hard to change their minds.
