Fan Keeps Running
#11
are you concerned thatthe fan runs too much at anytime or just when you tunr the key on and then turn it back on? check your radaitor to make sure its not partly clogged as well. you dont have to leave the key on to cool down the engine as it will do it anyways from not running. besides if you do it too often your killing your battery if its running a long time. imo.

I'm figuring possibly a circulation problem maybe.
4 bikes on a trail . Mine an arctic cat, can-am, and a kawisaki. Same trail. When we stop my fan will run 3-4 times longer then other bikes with bike turned off but key in on position. Sometimes their fan won't even come on where as mine may run for 5 minutes. Does this all the time.

Why are you letting the fan run with the engine off?? If you want to cool it down, do so PRIOR to shutting it down. You can't diagnose a circulation problem based on fan run time with the coolant NOT CIRCULATING. The fact that your machine 's fan runs longer with the engine off than the other machines of different manufacture means nothing important IMO. Now if the fan runs constantly with the engine running or if the machiner overheats, that would be evidence of a problem.

Not sure if your atv has bleeder screws for the cooling system. Sometimes you can bleed air out by the thermostat housing or run the atv with the radiator cap off to get any air out of the system.
Looks like your green llama/fish head creature keeps running, too.
I get tired just watching it.

Ya I'f its got air I'll try to get it out. No one seems to like ol' greenie over there. I'll have to find a new one but he won't be happy. I've got another problem , maybe I'll make a new post.

if its got air in the system try running the bike w/ the rad. cap loose and let it cycle a few times(fan off and on) and it should push the air out w/out having pressure to the system.

Both of my 500's will run the fan if it was running when you shut it off and then turn the key back to the on position. My dads 400 will do the same thing. I'm sure it's normal but as others have said it don't do much good to let it run because you're just cooling whats in the radiator. I try to wait for my fan to cycle off before I shut the bike off.
