Default Fan motor shorting out

Hi

I have a 99 sp 500
I'v been having problems with it overheating. When it happens I checked the fan and the wires were melting, plus the fan wasn't running, so I turned the key off and tried spinning the fan it was hard to spin. I turned the key back on and the fan motor was trying to turn the but was having problems. Later on I herd the fan running and it was really loud. I want to replace it. I was wondering what years will fit on my bike, plus I noticed that 2000 sportsman and up look like a bigger fan and wanted to know if they would fit my bike if I bought the fan motor and shroud.

thanks.

Default Fan motor shorting out

Replace fan motor and if mine I would replace radiator sensor(especially if connections burnt!) I havent tried to update machines in for repair, but ask around. Sometimes easier to go back stock than to modify!! In any case radiator Has to be leaned back to install fan blade on motor if you have BIG hands like ME! Cover will fit, maybe not all screws will line up ,plus clutch exhaust tube will be bigger on most later models! Have seen it done! Good luck.
