Are same generation polaris parts interchangable for the same model?
#1
I was just wondering if there was certain years of polaris parts that would be gen II? I'm working on restoring a 1990 polaris trail boss. I know they call the seat a generation II. The seat is the thing I'm looking for. If anyone has experience with these older atv's please help. So far even with the internet I'm still having a tough time. The bike was mine when I was a kid and has stayed under a tarp for about six years. I ordered the Clymer manual to help me get into the swing of doing the rest. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums Gussy78.
Kinda confused by the title of the thread.
Going by that, yes the same model and same generation number will interchange.
But I get the idea you're wanting to know if different generation models of the same model will work.
Best thing to do is see what the actual Polaris part numbers are for the models your looking at. If the numbers match, they'll work.
As for the seat, is the plastic base still good? If so, you may want to see if an upholstery shop can recover it. May or may not be cheaper.

You know anyone with a Polaris? I swear they used the same seat on every ATV from 1990 to 2004. I would just pop your old seat off and try it on another Polaris ATV . Is the seat broken? I had a seat recover like new on my Yamaha for $70.

True. Trail Blazer's and Preddy's are the only ones that don't use that big seat design it seems like.

Thanks for the advice guys. Sorry on my clarity, I was tired and sort of strayed off a bit. Yes the plastic in the rear bottom of the seat is cracked where the seat latch is connected to it. I don't know anyone who has a polaris to seat to switch fit with. I was wondering if anyone had experience with these older quads, who for some reason would know which seats I could flop. If I knew that I could start to narrow it down. Good advice about the part #'s. It's a good place tp start. Thanks again.

Check out Ronnies and look at the OEM parts diagrams. They seem to go back further than the actual Polaris website, and it's the same drawings. See what seat numbers match up and then you may want to see what ebay has in those models.
