This seems to be intermittent but last year I had been riding around the property for awhile. I went to shift into reverse and the lever was "locked" and wouldnt shift out of high forward. I drove it into the garage and a couple days later I was going to take it to the repair shop, started it up and it shifted and was OK since. Now, this past weekend, the same thing happened. My daughter had been driving it in and out of the area I was clearing in the woods and when she went to try to back up to turn around, it was locked up again.
I called the shop, who seemed LESS than knowledgable and they said to check the transmission fluid. I checked this and it is a bit low, it comes up to the lower raised line on the stick under "SAFE". Im going tonite to get some fluid to put in and see but does this sound familiar to anyone here and is my shop correct, is it the fluid?
Thanks!

I checked again with the shop and they said check the adjustment of the rods for the shifting. I went to do that and checked the lever and its working fine!! Ugh....It took 3 days to "let go".
I wondered if it was just riding for awhile that did it but mine doesnt release soon after it cools, it takes a few days.

Sometimes shifter assys will for the lack of better word will"hydrolock" Usually happens when shifting from hi to low, have had them brought in stuck in gear! Dont freak, just disconnect linkage, slap shifter back to neutral and adjust linkages to drop in shifter arm holes. Common problem with older shifter assemblies.
