Cracked rear plastic noisy exhaust
On my 07 800 the thin plastic ears where the rear plastic attaches to the frame under the seat is cracked. Now the side panels keep falling off. Has anyone been able to get this covered under warrenty or an i stuck. I have noticed that the side panel has started melting!.
When the bike is cold or after water is splashed on the exhaust it gets very loud for a few minutes then goes away. Its kind of like the head pipe to main pipe gasket lossens up. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?
Thanks

If still under warranty take to dealer! Had similar problem with early build 07 spts 500 melting side panels! Replaced rear cab on one with updated exhaust shield kit and several other kits on 07's. This is a common problem on rear cabs to break at small tab strips under seat area not just on 800's but 500's also. SEE if dealer can help by calling Polaris even if out of warranty. Sometimes will cover parts and you cover labor. Hope this helps. Good luck. Check exhaust donut to see if worn and every thing tight.

Those ears on cracked on mine 800, my old 450, my wife's 450, my cousins 800,
my friends 500. I remembered a post sometime ago and there were lots of people
with that problem. I believe it is a DESIGN FLAW. Fortunately, ours are holding, have
not exp. the melted plastic yet, but looking under my 08'800 it seems like it is shielded
and heat reflective taped on there pretty good.

They will cover it even out of warranty up to a certain time. There is a new heat shield and on the 800s there a reflash to lower the exhaust temps. This is only for this problem that the warranty will be extended. Polaris is really tighting up there belts on warranty, once its out its out.

The bike is only 8 months old and i got the sucker 5 year warrenty. I Cleaned it all up today and inspected the panels. The rear cab where the side panel snapes in is melted and is now pointing at an angle down. This is causeing the pin on the side panle to not line up. The side pannel itself is bubled in spots but is for the most part the correct shape. I think contibuting to the problem is the fact that all 4 rubber bumpers under the seat are broke off. I was looking on bike bandits oem parts page and noticed that the heat shield listed was 1 continuous piece. Mine is 2 separate shields. I'm gonna take it up to the dealer next week. If they don't honor the warrenty I'll just have to try another place.

The extended warranty will not cover cosmetic damage. The plastic and heat shield will be covered under a special factory warranty extension for this issue only. The seat may also be covered because I have seen them melted from this also. It depends on how much your dealer is willing spend calling Polaris for authorization.

Well i stopped by the dealer today and the service manager looked at it. He said that my heat sheld is the most up to dat one, and that the plastic should be covered at least for this first time. He said that it my be mt riding style that is causing the pastic to deform. He sumbmited the warenty request to Polaris and he said he would give mr a call when he heard something. Any suggestion on how to prevent this for the next set of plastic.
