I'm looking for a winch for my 02.
I called dealers and resellers and so far, I have about 5 different Warn numbers.
At this point, I'm confused and not sure what to do. Even the ppl at Warn gave me a different number but told me I'd be better off finding a number from the dealer.
Can anyone supply me with the CORRECT part number for the mounting plate and the winch for my 02?
Also, I like to ride in the mud, and I've been stuck a few times. Would it be wise to get a front or rear winch? Would it matter??
Please advise and THANK YOU!!

Here is the mounting Plate for $45 After that you just drill holes for what ever winch you buy. A 2.5 lb min I would suggest.
These people have a good feed back I would just contact them and let them fix you up.
I have the stock Polaris warn 2.5 winch for the 2001 SP500 but the ATV also came with
a Polaris big heavy steel ugly front bush guard/bumper and I can barely even see the winch behind it let alone get numbers off of it. Behind the bumper and unseen winch is my radiator which I can not see at a ALL from the front,I don't know how it get air flow and is not boiling over on some days.LOL

Front, because you want to be on the ATV helping with the AWD as the winch pulls as well, and on your Polaris its almost impossible to use the yellow reverse override button, throttle and winch switch all at once. In forward the override button is not needed.

Front is the best but what I did was to buy a winch at wal-mart that fits over the ball on the rear reciver and has a 12ft remote cord and you just hook it up to the battery and it dosnt pack all that bad ether,I think it was around 90 bucks or so,I take it with when we go deep off the beaten path that way I have both options if I need it..Also use it on the back of the Ranger when out in the woods.
