Anyone thinking of getting out of ATVs

Anyone thinking of selling out due to the price of fuel to ride and to haul to ridding areas?
I have given it some thought since just a local ride costs me over $15 and a ride where I have to haul costs over a $100 if I take my son. This is getting ridicules!
When we started ridding it was a FAMILY event now if you take out the family you need deep pockets.Sorry for the vent..................Brad

I agree that the price of everything is getting out of control but I won't sell the quads or the truck that hauls them. I may have to cut back on how often I ride but riding once in awhile is still better than not riding at all. Hell it costs 50 bucks or more to take the family to the movies for two hours of fun. I can spend a few bucks more and go on an all day quad outing.

hdoperator you got the right frame of mind, if your not going to change it, modify it.-----Over 26yrs ago I started getting fed up with it all and moved to Maine where I can hop on my atv/snowmobile and leave from my yard and go for as many miles as I want be it 1 or 150 a day and never go over the same trail. You cant complain when there are other options. Been there done that and corrected it. Job, wife, kids -- theres NO EXCUSE I haven't heard, alls it takes is really wanting to change it and then doing it.--

Before 1988 I had 5 motorcycles and two atvs crammed in my garage for me and my son. 20 years later after wrenchin on em daily,I just have 1 motorcycle! Turning a hobby into a job can make you loose interest also! Keep your avocations and vocations separate! Learned the hard way. Have fun fellas, guess I will keep fixing them up for a while longer! Then THROW AWAY my tools!

I've been wanted to load up and ride some of the big trails out west but given the costs of fuel it may be a while.
As for getting rid of my ATVs it isn't going to happen. I live on the farm and they're an essential part of life. i ride every day and put lots of miles just on my place. In fact, I rarely ride anywhere else.
What is has done is made me reconsider my choice of machine. I've been shopping for a new, top of the line big bore machine but given the price of fuel now I'm considering getting a 500 or 700 class machine instead. Yes I could definitely use the power of a big bore but when you ride as much as I do the price of fuel really begins to add up.
Something else I'm considering is a Bad Boy Buggy. One of those electric utility machines. I'm thinking about getting it and charging to from a solar panel. I could run the thing nearly for free. Based on the range they claim I could use it to do errands in town and stuff instead of riding my ATV or driving my truck.
