Does anybody know of an alternate system for the 500 scrambler belt intake.A friend has a 400 and his air intake is up higher and has bends in order to prevent water getting into the belt consequently he never gets a wet belt like I do.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hey Matt, I saw in here, long time ago, a guy went to Pep Boys Auto store and got some flexible air vent hose and ran it from the cover up under the front hood. I think it was 3" but not sure, you probably should meassure it to make sure. He said he had no problems with performance and it solved the prob. I've been meaning to do the same but havn't had the time. You might also want to check the gasket on the cover and the screws for tightness. Hope this helps!

I saw that post too Scramdaddy. Just go buy a "Mighty Flow" flexible hose Matt. It fits perfectly. Just ziptie it to the PVT cover and run the hose up under your handlebars. Most people don't even notice the mod and it sure feels good making the deep water crossings w/no visible snorkel.
I have it on my bike and can play in the water great! The only thing I want to do now is install a drain plug in the bottom of my PVT cover....for when I hit the real real deep water. I won't do that until I mod my airbox (which may take me a while).

There was a guy who posted pictures of his Scram w/simple directions for installing the hose (not sure who it was though)8-(. It took me 5 minutes to do it.

Maybe somebody else has a link to this guys web page?

Regards,

If you want a factory snorkel that is a great replacement, we discovered that the intake from a 98 Big Boss 6x6 fits the 2000 Scrambler 500. The intake is in a different direction and should solve your problem. Other years of the same models may work, these happen to be the models in our riding group. A quick fix is to duct tape the factory intake and cut a new hole on the inside. This worked well too. Good luck.
