How will I know if I need new clutch buttons? I hear talk of these buttons. Will I notice something or is this a scheduled maintainance thing?

All drive clutches have buttons, the older models had stem buttons, while newer ones are stemless.I believe they all supercede to the newer style? You will know if clutch work needed,it will start sounding like cam chain wear and if let go too long will wear groves in clutch and sound like a diesel engine. On ebs secondary clutches roller bushings used, usually long wearing,on non ebs rear cluches ramp buttons are the main wear item. Check out for wear if clutch performance drops and if belt replaced.

Well I quess I should have done some reserch before I was so quick to post a question. I just read the reply and looked at the explosion of the secondary and you are correct. I have been reading some of your past responses about Dayco belts and was wondering on if you still feel the same. My brother smoked my belt the other day and he just called me and told me that he orded a Dayco for it.

tell him to end the daco back and get a polaris oem belt. daco is no where as good as the oem. the seconard(bigger back clutch) you wont have to worry about. the the primary butons on the spider do where but i would doubt you will have to worry about that for a quite awhile. while you have the clutch cover over blow all the belt dust out as well. imo.

I plan on blowing out all that dust because I know that it as to have a pile in there. I also would like to ask if it is okay to keep pulling the cover. I worry about that seal failing.

If it's something you're going to be doing quite a bit, you can use gasket sealer.

Havent tried dayco belts,we use Polaris belts, after all these years dont know who mfg is! Really doesnt matter,if a belt can be shredded reguardless of manufacturer, I have a couple of riders I call TERMINATOR 1 and TERMINATOR 2 that can do it! They should be test riders for Polaris!
