Default 2007 Sportsman 500 dead...

Howdy everyone.......just returned from a two day ride this weekend and my bud's 2007 Sportsman 500 DeLuxe has a problem. The riding area was 7000 to 8000 plus elevation and a lot of rock crawling and some short stretches of trail with speeds up to 30 mph plus. We could smell gas as if running rich when he was riding ahead of our group. When letting off the throttle or when desceding the steep trails it would start backfiring. After we got back to camp and started to load up the four Sportsmans and a Honda.....my bud's 2007 Sportsman would not start. No indication of power on the speedo or the fuel pump sound....as if the battery were gone. We fiddled with the wiring harness on the handle bars and then we turned the key on and it did start as if everything was normal....not sure if the fiddle helped because the ignition wasn't on at the time. Any help on where to look for the problem? Thanx.......NoJoke

sounds like the main circuit breaker tripped it is located under the speedo head in a supposedly water proof pouch but i have had water get in them and corrode the terminals and they will overheat and blow the breaker
