No, Its not ok. THe plastic shim is worn or gone. The is causing it to walk or pull at idle. Replace it and that will fix your problem. It is allowed so much play but too much lets the belt rub the sheeve.

It does not seem to be moving at idle. I can take the cover off and let it run and see that it does not grab. Wouldn't the belt be spinning even in neutral if there was a problem? Would I be able to see this shim if I can see the one way clutch? I hate to be dragging this subject but I have to admit that I can be a little **** when it comes to my atv.

P.S How do yall feel about Dayco HP belts?

Can't really see the shim. As far as moving at idle I meant the atv will not sit still. When the shim moves over to one side or the other it will make it pull when it gets enough preasure against the sheave. The belt should not be moving at idle. If it is then it is dragging on the clutch sheave. I'll look up the part number of the shim. You may see the belt move a little once in a while but it should not be in constant motion.

If I'm looking at the right thing, there's a brass washer on one side of the one way drive clutch, and a Teflon washer on the other side. http://parts.polarisind.com/Assemblies.asp

EDIT: The link to that page isn't working. Click this link instead and use the pull-down menu. http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp

Hey guys I am so glad to have you on my side. If everyone in the world would help each other like we do on this forum then the world would be a much better place. The belt does not move when it is in neutral and the machine does not creep when in gear and at idle. I can see the one way clutch moveing from side to side but nothing happens. Maybe I still have a little life left in it. I am nervous about that Dayco belt though. It seems to slip once in a while on take off, but on the other hand it feels like it is a little more grabby.

Maybe its fine. If it does it again you'll know what to go for now anyway.
