best place to buy polaris parts online
Looking for a reasonable priced online store to buy polaris oil, parts, filters, ect online. I'm sick of being gouged at my local dealers, who I have to drive 40 minutes one way to get to anyway. I bought 1 qt of PS-4 oil and an oil filter today for just under 20 dollars. He charged me almost 10 bucks for the oil filter. WTF??!!!
I like using polaris parts but this is crazy. I bought my bike from a dealer 2 hours away bacause the locals guys price was a total rip off on a new bike. I hate giving them business when they gouge a guy like this.
I don't mind paying for items but changing the oil on the polaris yourself shouldn't cost more then having someone changing it on your car.

I use Mobile 1 oil and filter now. I have ordered fluid change products from Parker Yamaha. You can get 0W-40 oil for 6.69 a quart if you buy the gallon jug. Filter is 5.99. I wasn't saving anything by the time you have it shipped (undoubtedly oil has to be shipped UPS).

I'm a die-hard local buyer... trying to support the local area, and also because I am an old-fashioned shopper too I guess. I still like to pick up my stuff, pay for it and drive home with it.
For oil filters, I use Wix filters for everything I own... they are excellent filters and also provide jobs to some people here in North Carolina... so it's a triple plus to me.
I can get them local at NAPA (napa filters) or O'Reilly's (wix) and are reasonably priced.
My Polaris is 2-stroke but uses 4 stroke oil in the counterbalance.
I'm trying Mobil 1 0w30 in there right now.
A 4-stroke Polaris "should" be able to use any oil you want to put in it, provided it's the right grade because you don't have a wet clutch to deal with. It's not like Polaris manufactures specialty oil for every quad they produce. Heck, they don't even build the engines... so figure that one out for yourself....

Duster, I hear what you are saying about buying local. I always try to support the local guy.
I figure, yea I might pay a little more than online with it delivered, but it is in my best interest to keep them open.
I may need them someday to get the part or oil right then and not have to wait. Alas things do go bump in the night.
I also don't believe it is in there's or my best interest to have to pay an huge premium on stuff as some "stealers" or actually all markets will try to do.
All of my local shops know I give them first shot, but I have also done my homework to know what it would cost on average to have it shipped. I am not afraid to tell them that and if they are being fair they get my business.
It is rare they will tell me to go elsewhere and they know I expect them to make a little bit on it just not their entire monthly bottom line.
I have always found letting them know what you are looking at goes a long way. But again not always.

I'm all one for buying local, except when the dealerships don't treat me right. My closest dealership installed a 1200 fish finder for me and told me that I could bring it back when a promotioal accessary came in the mail. It was one of those 6-8 week deals. They told me that to hook up the accessary, it woould be a simple 10 minute job and they would do it for free. Well, I got the accessary and guess what? No one seemed to remember telling me that they would put it in for free. Told them they just lost any future business from me for trying to charge me another install. They told me that they would check into it and call me back. Never called back. Refuse to deal with them again.
2nd closest one refused to deal with me on buying my new machine (x2 500) and I didn't hold that against them. They wanted 150 IIRC more then the dealership below. They were the ones I bought the oil and filter from but seem to be overcharging folks.
3rd closest I had paperwork signed for a 500 x2 2008 model and they decided they couldn't make enough money from the deal and wanted more money, 150 dollars more, to deliver the machine they quoted me, in writing, to deliver. I will never deal with them again. Ended buying the machine from a dealer 2 hours away as they were 100 dollars cheaper then this dealership origionally quoted me.
I seem to have a very bad time trying to deal with my local dealerships. I seem to give them a shot, they won't deal, lie, or pull fast ones and my business ends up going down to the twin cities where they actually seem to want my business.
I had the same problem when buying my 07 tundra. No one local would match the price a dealer in the twin cities had quoted me, 300 over invoice with free oil changes for life. Best I could do was 700 over invoice with no free oil changes. I drove 2.5 hours one way and saved 400 dollars. Even with gas, I saved about 200 dollars and 50-70 dollars with each oil change.
Money's kinda tight right now and I can't afford to keep giving my local guys more money for the same products, and i refuse to deal with any dealership that won't work with me or doesn't seem to want my business.
Like I said, I want to stay with polaris products but will go to a different oil/filter if I have to. I always like to keep stock parts in my machines. I figure that the stock parts were made for my machine and in some instances protect the machine better then after market products. There has to be someone out there that is willing to sell the parts at a reasonable price. I have no problems with people making a buck and they should. I just don't see why they need to make double or more then what they paid for a part.
