There is a grease fitting in rear frame of magnum on shaft that people over look! Most likely splines on short prop shaft stripped at coupler end. Have replaced several. Easier just to jack up and pull rear end out since you have just a small hole to work with that shaft and coupler are in. Make sure to order o-ring that goes in coupler. Rear end should be ok since harder steel than coupler, just usually coupler and propshaft if splines worn. Good luck

The hubs are aluminum, the shaft is steel. All you should have to replace is the hub.Polaris designed it this way.Its a posy rear end ,instead of the rear end giving out the hubs do.Changed my 02s twice and 00s once.Take the tire off ,cotter pin and nut hubs come right off.

Are you talking about rear drive shaft or shaft from rear end into trans area? As worded in your post sounded like propshaft tuning in TRANS case but not rear driveshaft? Or are you talking about stripped hub on rear driveshaft?Have had hubs strip as posted above by ESCAVADER and propshaft couplers bad to!!

MABEY I misunderstood what he was trying to describe. If your asking how to unhook the driveshaft from the rear end ,remove the rearend[you might need a prybar,a couple of tabs on the right side need to be tweeked to pull it out.The driveshaft between the gearcase and rear end have a slip spline in it.Iremoved the 4 bolts on the housing on the end of the driveline to aid in removal.iNEVER HEARD OF SOMEONE wearing out the slip spline never greased it its possible i guess.

Yes this coupler will strip because hard to see grease fitting, can on see it through small hole in swing arm, especially if used in wet conditions.have replace on a couple magnums and a Ranger.
