That is narrow minded thinking.

So your saying, that a decked out ATV that rides like a lincoln town car, comes with some pretty bitchin tires, shouldn't be worth its weight?

If you take that grizzly, put on the equivelent in tires that the sportsman has, you just added about 1k to the cost of the machine, those 2 star tires that come stock on any machine like yamaha or honda, are a joke.

I'm sure polaris could cheap out and put crappy tires on a machine and ask a bunch less but thats not how they roll.

Your not comparing apples to apples, your comparing apples to advil pm.

What seems to be the most popular thing to change on the 4x4's?

Tires?

You can get 25" Mudlites for $250 and 26" XL 1-1/4" lug Mudlites for $310 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Far from a Grand. $630 gets you the 26" tires with these rims.

Now it would take well over a grand to make the 550 haul *** like the equally priced $7,599 750 KQ.

Hope Polaris does well with the SP550 but for me there is to many larger classed ATV for near the same or even cheaper price.

Even Polaris has better deals than New SP550 ,the 09 SP800 with nice 26" tires and all is only $300 more and would be heck of alot more machine for the buck.

Note: The reason the Japanese machines have lighter/less agressive tires is to help keep the weight down while shiping overseas from Japan! I'm with TLC no 550 class quad pricewise no matter how its fitted should be in the price range of a big bore.

Polaris 500 class Sportsman's have allways been the the staple of the Sportsman line and have allways been the price leader as well for its size of bike and nowing that the 550 is all new I sure hope that the rethink this price point soon!

My expierence with the three Polaris wheelers that I have purchased is that they can be had way under sticker price. My dealer told me that the MSRP vs Dealer price on a Polaris is about $400.00 above his Honda line. I bought a 08 500 HO for $4916.00 this spring. That price is still below the "NEW" MSRP. I'll bet that as soon as the pipe line is filled, a new SP550 XP can be purchased for the same price or less than the 550 Grizzly.

But that may also hold true for the 550 Grizzly.

If you had done your reasearch like you claim to have done, you would know that the polaris XP SP comes with 14 inch rims, which cost a hell of a lot more tham 12 inch rims.

To me that is just one more reason not to like it as when it does come time to change tires it will make just that much harder find that size of tire and more expensive!

That's I would never buy a Dodge like you did. Just because it costs an extra hundred dollars to buy a set of 17" tires versus 16", and your selection of tires is more limited.
