In case anyone was wondering, the Hall Effect Sensor on the wheel was only used since 1999. Before that it was just a cable running back to the transmission which wasn't as accurate, but it was usually just a little key that broke. My friend replaced the one on his Sportsman 335 last month. I guess replacing a $300 speedo instead of a $3 key is the price of progress.</end quote></div>
The progress is worst than that, Our 97 Sportsman rolled down a hill and smashed the speedo and pod right off and guess what ,the AWD ran perfectly while the new speedo and pod was on order.
Making the Speedo a component for the operation of the AWD from 2000 and up was a move in the wrong direction on Polaris's part.
