Well, I finally did it

Moose,
Interesting thing about the 6x6. In deep snow they actually arent as good as a 4X4. I know, it's counterintuitive but we got a freak 27 inches here in December of '04. Low range and wide open the ATP would push through at about walking pace and the 6x6 would stall out. Now my brothers is a few years old and a 500, the new 800 6x6 is a lot heavier and more powerfull so it would probably do better.
Those things shine at hauling a load that will make any other ATV cry uncle and going up hills. He'll pop that beast in low range drive halfway up a hill I wouldn't tackle on the ATP, stop, lock the brakes, climb off, goof around, climb back on, release the brakes, and motor on up. It' crazy. I really don't think you could flip it over backwards short of running it up to 90 degrees ang jerking on the bars. It's just too long in relation to it's height. You'd loose traction before you could get it steep enough to flip.
Have you seen any of the vids of the 6x6 with tracks on? Now you are talking unstoppable.

Yes, I've seen the 6x6 on tracks. Very impressive. I'm not sure if the new design would lend itself to tracks or not. I had sent them an email a couple years ago (when I had the money for one) saying I would like to see IRS in the rear, a larger engine, and maybe an X2 type seat to go with the bed. It would be the ultimate camping, nunting, etc. rig with the ability to carry a lot of gear and a passenger. I've never liked carrying a passenger on the ATP. It's just to crowded. And, when you have a passenger, the rear of the quad is almost useless for storage.

True enough, the saddle on the ATP is just too short to carry passengers comfortably. Regualr Sportsman is much better for two up, probably going to get a box with a seat on, like the Kimpex to start carting my 6 year old son on some short trips. He's getting to the point where he appreciates some quality time with Dad away from his twin sisters.
The 6x6 is really an amazing machine, it's a little too long to be handy on tight trails but it'll run anything a side x side will run, carry more weight than anything but a Ranger, boogie on down the straight stretches at 46-48MPH for the old 500cc machines and no telling how fast for the 800, but man the curb weight has got to be pushing 1000 lbs with the 6 wheel independent suspension and the 800 cc engine. My brother has a nice bank out in the field, he'll hit it wide open and air the 6x6 out, it's crazy, ya ever seen someone jump a school bus? I don't mean over a school bus, but JUMP a bus, it's like that, flying through the air with all six wheels spinning like crazy, it's comical, lands with a mighty thud too. I'll should get some video after he cuts the hay and post it.
An X2 like version of the 6x6 would be a good idea, but man, they are already pushing 10k on the price tag since going to the 800 independent. I'd hate to see what they would want for one with a pop up seat.

I got the Moosemobile back in shape. New rear dumpbox. Just have one more piece to put on and all back where it was. Yea! I think I won't be so daring with it anymore.

Waah! I've gotta go fix my X2 box too, now.
I just got the X2 at the beginning of July, have been lurking here in the polaris folder soaking up everyone's knowledge like a sponge. (Many thanks for that!)
I attempted to go down a really steep spot where the trail had washed out under the CULVERT OF DOOM, ended up planting the front end in the dirt, and while I fell off to the side, the X2 flipped over and crashed down on the rear right corner of the box. It was starting to go left as it crashed, but it ended up on it's right side facing uphill! Some plastic damage on the front end, but the box right side is completely disintegrated, and the second seat and dump latches are pretty bent up. Mechanicals and engine seem to be unharmed.
This was my first group ride, down the Naches Trail with the PSAR folks. Can't ask for a more caring bunch of people than they are--JumboFrank may have to share his seal of awesomeness with them. HappaRap took lots of pics/vids--you can see all the sports quads catching air going up the CULVERT OF DOOM over in the PSAR thread--look for the link to PSAR pics in one of HappaRap's posts. They really helped me recover & get me and my broken X2 home.
I hurt my back a bit diving off, but I'll recover. Guess I have to call the dealer & insurance agent on Monday to start getting my X2 going again.

GrayGore, if you have insurance, use it. Cost was up over $400 for the damage I did including postage. Your's seems more extensive than what I had to replace.

For me a $100 deductible doesn't cost much more than a $500 did. If you think you're likely to crash again you may want the lowest one you can get. Glad you're not hurt bad and the atv isn't totalled.
