Default 07 500 EFI wont start

I've been trying for quite a while to get my wife to ride with me, Yesterday I got my wish. I was able to borrow a friends grizzly so I could put her on my sportsman 500. We had ridden about 5 miles or so and stopped for a drink. When we got ready to head out again, my sportsman would not start back up. Prior to that it seemed to be running just fine before, it has a full tank, and the air filter is pretty clean only (250 miles total on the machine) It turns over just fine and I can hear the fuel pump prime the system. I did notice some fuel and air bubbling in the vent tube. I don't smell any gas and I think I have noticed that before. After letting it sit for about 10-15 minutes and few more tries, it started up but died after about 20-30 seconds. I believe I had the gas cap off and the air box opened. I could not get it to fire up again and towed it back. I was able to get it to start again after it was loaded on the trailer. When running it seemed to run fine again with no sputtering or anything. I gassed it a few times and then it just acted like it ran out of gas and I have not been able to start it again. I'm kind of at a loss here. I don't think the plug is fouled and I think the fuel filter is fine, its only had 5-6 tanks through it give or take. Anyone have a clue what I should look for, I'm1 guessing it may need to go to the dealer since its EFI.... thanks for any advice

They may have to reflash the EFI. I think mine had brain damage because it acted like it vapor locked and stalled out once last month. It was bubbling in the vent line too and I had to take the gas cap off to start it back up. The idle was going up and down for no apparent reason and the throttle cable was too tight. I may have gotten my throttle cable re-routed by a tree. When I pick it up later on today I'll ask what they did to fix it.

P.S. I never had ANY problems with my '06 EFI. They're great machines. My new one was built 11 months before I bought it so I think that makes a difference.

I did as instructed in my manual on page 52...

1. Place transmission in PARK. Stop the engine. Turn the key to ON position.

2. Turn the key switch off then on three times in less than 5 seconds. the word "WAIT" will apear on the screen.

I am not getting the display to show "wait" and it is not flashing any codes. Has anyone seen this issue or have clue why?

Try in NEUTRAL,have key off, then turn 3 times quickly and see if blink codes start. Should blink once, pause blink twice(start code),then either blink fault code then 61(end) or 61 if NO codes found. Sometimes have had problems with no speedo codes(not always accurate) Good luck

No luck in neutral either. Is there any chance of getting the diagnostic software and the connector to plug into the machine some place on the internet or from polaris?

It seems a little early, but look at the throttle cable.

On the handle bar near the thumb control pull back the rubber protector and see if the "set nut" is tight on the cable.

I pulled the fuel line off and turned the key to the on position, it trickled out about 2-3 ounces of fuel I would guess. not much pressure. Does that sound correct? I had them run my VIN and it showed that the fuel tank was replaced before I purchased the machine new. Thanks!
