I'm looking at buying a used '03 700. Other than a carburetor and the digital speedometer, what are the differences and cautions about it vs a new '07 500? The '07 is a new "dealer leftover" and I was strongly leaning this way until I saw the other come up for sale. It is a bit cheaper, and I haven't seen it in person yet. All the on line info I can dig up is pretty standard stuff, so I'd thought I come here and see what was upgraded over the years.

Earlier model 700s used DUCATI coil packs that at times wern't too reliable. 02 and 03 models. If can afford go for the 07,not that the 03 was bad,but a lot of bugs worked out, such as 02 and SOME 03 waterpump cover warpage and leaking! SHOULD have updated metal plate over plastic w/p cover, later models have aluminum water pump covers.

Thanks! That is exactly the type of information I was looking for! I'm hoping whatever I get is going to last a long time. Is there any significant difference between the '07 and an "08?
