Default 2001 sportsman 500 ho water pump help!

Hi everyone,
I need help. Last weekend I was riding my 01 sportsman 500 ho when the overheat light came on. I crawled under the machine and found antifreeze coming out of weep hole. I called the dealer today about the parts and he asked me how I knew it was the waterpump i told him and he said that almost never does the impeller go bad and that I had to change the mechanical gasket and the oil gasket. This added 50.00 onto the cost. I then asked him if this is a job I can do yself and he said no you need a special tool. My question is does that mechanical gasket go bad or are screwing me and is this a job I can do myself, and if so how. Any help with this would be appreciated, that dealership doesn't have the best reputation. They also said it is 1 1/2 to two hours labor.

Thanks.

Dealer is right, have to have special puller or shaft damage can happen. If leaking through weep hole then seal is bad(coolant leak,w/pump seal, oil leak, then oil seal( best to replace both! ABOUT right on labor. Changed several, havent had any impeller problems, except one that loosened up and spun on shaft and not circulating coolant. Good luck
