I wouldn't say it hates mud, as i have never really had a problem unless it was rutted real bad or really deep mud like up to the seat sorry but these are just my experiences the reason i got the new scrambler was my wife wanted to ride when i got the trailboss fixed from the crash pluss it it a little slow
