Default 325 Trail Boss from Hell

My aunt and uncle have a 2002 Trail Boss that they use to ride around on their farm. They ended up putting rusty gas in it for about 6 months. I got the job of completely cleaning the fuel system and cleaning the carb.

While I was doing this, the boot end of the coil broke off, the handlebar on off switch went bad and the battery shorted (causing the switch I believe). I also replaced the stator in my search for spark. Anyone need a good used one?

So anyway the machine is back together now and lucky me it has the exact opposite problem it had before. Now at idle the thing screams like a Banshee at WOT. The idle adjustment has no effect on it, but the throttle does respond when pressed. Is it possible that when cleaning the carb I made the jets too big when I rand cleaning tips through them? I usually use oxy torch cleaning wires and have never had an issue like this before. I have turned the adjuster on the bottom of the carb all the way in with no effect. That was fun by the way. I also even took the choke cable all the way off to see if that was the issue.

Is there something I am missing here?

Does anyone make a carb kit for this machine (which I believe would be the same engine as the 325 Magnums) or do I have to buy everything piece by piece from Polaris if I go that route?

By idle adjustment do you mean the large screw that is easy to get to or the little pain in the *** one on the underside of the carb in the middle?

This is a 4 stroke. The idle adjustment screw is already all the way out. I can physically see the throttle when the engine is running. The throttle and the gate are both closed. It has to be the mix.

There is a diaphram that makes the whole thing work I believe. It's on the top of the carb and vacuum makes it work. I'm not to up on 4 strokes, take a look there. Doc

I will check the throttle cable. Here is what I am thinking if that doesn't work.

Is it possible that the abrasive crap in the gas made its way into the carb (it was dirty but not too bad) and as it was forced through the jet holes it enlarged them. Then when I cleaned it I was left with a jet that lets too much fuel through?

Does that sound possible or am I stretching?
