96 polaris sport 400 think tranny shot move the shifter in any gear stays in reverse anyone help

 

does it ever come out of reverse?
maybe it as simple as a broken input shaft. at the end of the shifter linkage it dissapears in to the trans, maybe it's disconnected or broken inside. were you already in reverse when it broke?

 

yeah it comes out of reverse i should have said this better it will only move in reverse you put it in forward and hear nothing but grinding nuteral fine some noise very little reverse works fine
