popo 700 losing power in deep mud
I went to a atv park this weekend. My atv performed flawlessly on all the trails with the exception when my tailpipe went under mud or water. When it did, the engine would sputter and sometimes cut off. As soon as I got out it would run like normal again. It really was aggravating because I went through a hole that nobody would try with my girlfriend on the bike and made it the whole way until I started out of the hole. When my front tires got on higher ground it put my exhaust in the soup and I lost power. I could have gotten out of a nasty hole if I had power. As soon as my tailpipe cleared the mud I had all power back. Is the tailpipe being blocked causing my power loss or is it something else? Is this common? Will a snorkle cure this? If so, any suggestions on how to snorkle the tailpipe?

If you go to the highlifter website and go to their forum under polaris, there are several topics about this. From what I have read, some quads have problems in deep water, and others don't. You might need to get an aftermarket exhaust as it sounds like your factory one is starving for air. I have been in a mudhole up to the headlights, and no problem, I guess I am one of the lucky ones as mine is pretty much all stock.

thanks opie. do yo all think I could weld a pipe into the stock to come up about to the top of the rack? I am cheap so if I could find a cheap fix it would be great. I like to MUD, not paddleboat my atv. I dont want to buy a pipe that is made to go into 5 ft of water, because if I go into 5ft of water, it was by accident, and I would probably cry. My stock exhaust works fine under water, but not swamp concrete. Thanks guys
