Do all four wheels spin when you are in 4x4 on a 2006 Honda Rincon?
#1
When you switch the lever to 4x4 do all wheels acually turn? Hox about 2x4? The other question I had about the 2006 Honda Rincon is the Hondamatic tranny in the rincon as well? Any draw backs to that? Thanks

The answer your first question would be yes only 3 of the 4 wheel would spin till there is enough fluid build up to turn the 4th wheel like a torque converter in a car.
2nd the tranny in a Rincon is just like the one you would find in a car with a torque converter and a 3seed not a big fan of this type of setup as it realy limits you in you choice of gear selection. With a belt tranny you are allways in the proper power band and any given moment (like starting and stoping on a steep hill).JMO

The videos I've seen show one front wheel spinning and the other one doing nothing. The power transfers back and forth between them but the one with the LEAST traction generally gets the MOST power. If one tire is up in the air and one is on solid ground, it spins the one with no traction whlie the one that could get you unstuck does nothing.

Ya the 4 wheel never does get full power this why we sometimes call Honda's 3.5 wheel DR.

I have a 05 sportsman 500 and looking to change it for a honda. I want a reliable engine that will last forever. What is the best model for Honda. I really like the rincon because of the IRS. Is anything else honda makes close to the comfort of the rincon? thanks

If I just had to get a honda I would go w/ the Rubicon b/c you have a low range w/ this machine, plus you can switch it to esp mode and select any gear you want. But it is a solid axle in the rear. The best thing you can do is stick w/ a Polaris, the sp700 or 800 are the best 2 machines on the market right now. Plus there MADE IN THE U.S.A.

I want to get away from the belts ond more toward reliability. Is the rubicon still a comfortable ride? can you get it in automatic tranny then switch to ESP? how many gears does it have? thanks

I am not sure about the ride quality of the Honda Rubicon, but I do know it has a different transmission compared to the Rincon and it has five gears as opposed to the Rincon's three speed transmission. The Rubicon also has a great engine braking system. The Rincon only slows down to around 7 or 8mph going downhill.(These numbers apply to the engine braking system itself). Yes, you can ride the Rubicon in either fully automatic mode or ESP. The Rubicon also has even more control of the engine output with D1 and D2. The rider selects either mode for the riding conditions. I believe D1 is better where high torque is needed such as towing and climbing steep hills and D2 is better suited for your average trail ride. I am not sure if I switched up the D1 and D2 or I told you the correct definition of each. I hope this helps.

Not sure about you but going from a Popo 500 to any 4x4 Honda would put me to sleep as thoes things are to slow and boering to me,Your 500 Popo can run with any 680 Rincon besides that you going to loose the great ride of the Sportsman. If you dont like the Popo there such better choices out ther than a Honda. I am not trying to hate Honda I just feel you can get much more bang for the buck out of just about any atv out there in the same class of bike, such as a Yamaha Grizz 550/700.JMO
