Default Oil and Oil filter?

I use a NAPA gold filter & Mobil 1. I believe it is a PS1358 for a 500.

Just couldn't see 11 a qt + 12 for filter from Polaris. And it is quite a drive to the Po dealer.

Does the M1-110 have the check valve in it??

The PL14612 does and the P14612 doesn't.</end quote></div>

hobbles,

The Mobil 1 filters have both an anti-drainback valve and a relief valve.

Why don't u want to use the polaris stuff? It is just as expensive as anything else and sometimes cheaper.

It blows my mind that people have this hard-on for not using the oil change kits from polaris.</end quote></div>

I use national brand filters because I feel that they are better quality than OEM. I do use a Motorcraft filter in the Expedition, not because it's OEM, but because I feel it's a superior filter.

The oil change kits are 30 bucks around here. I'm with the other guys, I don't mind spending the money because it's not much more if any to use Polaris stuff. I just HATE being able to to only purchase my oil from the dealership. My dealer is 20+ miles from here making it more than a hassle to go get what I need. Not to mention that they have bankers hours! I guess what I'm saying is they need to either make their stuff more available or use "normal" fluids like all of the other manufactures.

I'm paying around $29 dollars Canadian for a oil change kit from the dealer . What you do is pick up like 5 oil change kits at one time plus front diff and tranny so you won't have to keep running back and forth to the dealer .

Well I thought about picking up extra stuff but with two popos at 30 bucks a piece it's already 60 dollars to do an oil change. I can't really afford to have a hundred dollars or more in extra oil just laying around. Besides the fact that oil does get old even if it's not been used. With that being said it's not the total end of the world to go to the dealer but more of a pain in the ****. Just would be nice to run down to the corner parts store for the stuff thats all.

well, fram is the worst possible oil filter to use so don't get that, and make sure you use 0w 40.

The owner's manual says to always use 2W-50 oil. Use whatever brand you want.

Ummm

0W-40

Copied and Pasted:
"Although Polaris Premium 4 is the only oil recommended for use in this
engine, use of any API certified SH oil is allowable as long as it's 0W-
40. Oil may need to be changed more frequently if Polaris Premium 4 is
not used. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for ambient temperature
operation."
