2004 sportsman 600 overheating

Default 2004 sportsman 600 overheating

i have what is mentioned above i picked this quad up about a month ago and can not figure out why it keeps over heating cleaned the radiator the fan works and kicks on i am looking for the next thing to check it over heats on seasonal roads after being at like 1/2 or less throttle for a bit it blows out the over flow cap thanks Jim

If fan is kicking on,but still over heats,check Back of radiator for packed mud. I've had to clean several that looked clean,but cant see the back

yeah thats clean i took all the plastics off and cleaned everything good

are you losing any fluid other than out of the cap. Im thinking head gasket. Check oil for milky look. May be thermostat if you're lucky.

I am pretty sure a radiator cap that will not hold the proper pressure will cause this exact symptom. Have you checked it or replaced it recently?

if you can see day light thru the radaitor then its clean. how long does the bike run before it overheats.

so i went thru it some more and the water pump impeller was badit slips on the shaft but now im leaking out of the weep hole anyone have the manual that they can send me a pic of how to do this?

You need a puller to do this. It is about 90$. I have heard of people doing it without but if you bend or damage the shaft the motor has to be disassembled to replace it. If you go polaris site & manuals there is a parts explosion that kind of shows it. I have had 2 done first was about 90 next was about 140 a couple months ago.
