Default trailboss 250

hey all when i get up to higher revs i get a sudden loss of power. the engine is fine but the clutch drive is slipping?? is this maybe a worn belt or something in the gearbox? anyhelp is appreciated

does it fall on its face or does it just bogg down when you start going fast???

goes fine then sudden loss of power. if you change to lo or reverse it will start working again,the problem happens in high generally.
feels like you get up to a good speed then bam

if it was the belt slipping then when u pull back the revs wouldn't it catch again?? this does not happen. has anyone had this problem, gearbox maybe??

Sounds like a belt/clutch issue, not gearbox. Take the cover off of it and take a DRY spin to see what's happening. If you have slippage, where is it coming from (drive clutch? driven clutch? both?) Could be a bad belt, could be ramp buttons in secondary. worst case bad springs in primary.

will do, all i have done so far is have a good clean in there and run the revs up without a belt to see if the clutch in the front is operating properly it looks ok but will try your suggestion soon, thanksfor the reply.

Sounds like the buttons in the secondary clutch are worn out,

Ok from what I know it seems to be the buttons on the secondary clutch are either wore out or broke off...a noise will tell you they are broken.

thanks guys. now i will find a dealer to get the parts. theres not too many around here
