I had an SP500 efi and pretty much hated it the touchy throttle play and the sensors got gummed up with silt out in the black hills once and had to fight with it to make it back to basecamp. was expensive to get fixed too. I like carb its simple and i could take one apart trail side and be running shortly there after.

Buddy just got an 09 carb and i really like it and was wondering how long polaris will keep the carb sportsman around begore its efi or nothing.

Also is it just me or does the carb sportsman come with cheaper tires then the efi did?

 

Who knows how long they'll keep it.I'd say as long as it sells good it'll be around but thats just a guess. Through '08 the tires are the same as far as I know. I know they went to different wheels and tires for '09 but I think they're the same on carb and efi. I like the look of the wheels better on the '09 but I like the tires on the '08 better.
The '09 is a really nice machine with some nice changes but overall I still like the '08 better.

 

Im guessing The 2-3 years until there is only efi....Next year there will be more bikes the new style and less old style of bike and then it will be eventually gone.....

 

Since it's the best selling ATV they or anyone else makes it should be around a while longer. The carb has 25" bias tires and the EFI has 26" radials. It not just your imagination. That's one of the things you get for an extra grand.

 

everything will go to efi in the future would be my guess. but like siad it depends on what out sells i would guess in wheather they contiune making the carb bikes.

I guess I learned something today! I thought the tires where the same...cool!

 

You would be hard pressed two find any aftermarket rims and tires for $1000 on E bay. $600 will get you the best there is. Save the $1000 sell the stock Rims and tires and buy your own rim and wheels for Hundreds less.
