Hi folks!

First post. I was wondering if anyone here has come up with a cheaper option for a cooling fan on a 1999 Xplorer 300. I cant find it any cheaper than $220. It's toast. No chance for a rebuild.

Thanks in advance, Gary

I'd bring the motor up to the auto parts store, search some fan motors. I bet you can find one that matches pretty close. Look at the mid 80's toyota motors. Might have to slightly modify, but they should be very close. And, a heck of a lot cheaper.

Just for kicks I looked at some on Ebay. Here's one for an Acura that looks close...not sure on the mounting holes or shaft size. May have to file the shaft or redrill the mounting holes? Maybe not?

Acura/honda motor

GOOD comparison to Polaris fan motor, but measure specs of OEM versus Honda motor given as there is little space behind motor to steering post.

Yep, I think length is the biggest issue. If you can find the right overall length and a similiar shaft, might have a winner. Beyond that, the rest, if not the same could be moded pretty easy to fit.

My bud in the old club used a toyota(I think) fan on a older sportsmans. All he had to do was add a spacer behind each mounting hole and take a file to the shaft. It mounted right up. It's worth a look.

$174 from cheapcycleparts.com.

Still pretty steep, huh?
