I have heard replacing the exhaust can save you around 40lbs, if I remember correctly. This was for an 800 though.

If you don't use the 4x4 and electric start you can save 100 pounds between that and the exhaust. Then strip all the plastic off the body. They look ugly as sin that way but it sheds more weight. I don't think it would hurt to cut most of the skid plates off. Just leave gussets in the corners for strength. You know whether you need lights or not. You can save a lot of weight with aftermarket tires on aluminum rims.

rickeyparker, what is the reason you want to reduce the weight of your machine?? from your new videos it looks like you just need some better tires

Not worth the bother on a Utility. The average Utility weighs 600lbs anyways which is far from a light weight, and the extra 100lbs of the sportsman is hard to notice and feel anyways.

Kinda like being happy that your 700lb girlfriend lost 100lbs and now weighs 600 lbs, its really hard to notice or care about ,neither is sexy in any case.

A person shouldn't need the racks or seat either. And if you walk next to it you loose that much more.

Take the whole quad apart, and imagine a light quad in its place, and run around , it will be real light than!

hahaha this thread reminds me of a thought I had once, while I had my scrammy s drivetrian apart..

I thought itd be real fun to have a quad with no motor or trans.. All wheels bearings in great shape, GREAT brakes,
and suspension, and tires.

And to just take that thing down slopes or down hills.. would be awesome to have a super light thing like that to throw around down a hill with nothing but gravity moving you
