500 X2 batery repalcement PITA
I just had to replace my battery on my 2007 X2, what a PITA. No room to work at all, I must have done it the hard way. However I put on the easy connectors to a Battery Plus charger. I had never taken care of the previous battery, lessons learned $150 latter. I bought the same replacement battery I did not want to try and fit another brand in (Yuasa).

I second that. The week that I got my X2, the rubber battery strap broke and the battery slid back against the exhaust. Melted a big hole in the casing. Got it covered under warrany though. I added a winch later. Dang near impossible to get to the terminal screws.

My battery has been good. But, I run it pretty often. At least a couple times per month. I know what you are saying about the tight quarters that they put the battery in. I made the mistake of leaving my wedding ring on when I installed my Warn/Polaris winch. Contacted the positive lead, ring, to engine block. Took about an 1/8" of skin off my finger.

Rubber battery strap? I have a metal bracket that clips on to the case?
The extra rings for the quick connect battery charger made this work more difficult. I had to put a screw driver under the bolt on the terminal to raise it up so the screw would reach the bolt.

Yep, rubber with a D-ring at each end. I tried to get the dealership to convert it to the metal top, but they wanted me pay for it. Said they couldn't do it under the warranty.
