Default Quadracer vs. YFZ450

Which is better: a 1987 quadracer 250 with over $13,000 in mods. This is what the guy said who owns it: I worked for Trenga Racing for about 5 years on his property and instead of payments he supplied all the parts.. The bike was taken down to a bare frame and rebuilt with all new bushings and all new stainless hardware. the motor was completly torn down and rebuilt by a race shop and the Head was hand ported for mid range acceleration. The Manifold is a cool head desing to add power at bottm end. The rear shock is the only other thing on the bike other that the fram that is original - although the frame is powder coasted to never rust the rear shock was sent out and rebuilt also by a race shop. The front a-arms are custom bulit shrome Plus 1 / Plus 2 which means they are out 1 inch past stock fwd. and 2 inches wider. This along with the plus 5 rear excaliber racing axle makes this bike lower and more stable than stock 250's it does not try to pull off the ground and wheelie the entire time. the rims and tires on it are red line bead locks with mid agressive tires (about $900.00 for the set up) the brake line on the bike are steel braded and dipped in a coating - the steering stem is a lonestart racing shart. the bars are Tag motorcross. it has a racing discontect you clip to you so if you fall off it shuts down. The exahust is a Paul turner tripple chorme midrange with a fat boy silencer on it. The front shocks are oling zero preload racing shocks ($1500.00) the original plastic I have as well as the original tires etc... but the Plastic is a Modified race design - New and the Rear grab bar was repalces with an aluminum one - the nerf bars are Gradon Racing aluminum. And other frame accesorry was (like the foot pegs etc...) was sandblasted and Powder coated in Black. he said there was only about a half hour on the motor. We are very good friends w/ him so he isnt lieing.

or a stock 04 yfz450? the LT is $3750 and the 450 is $3800. are those decent prices? I'm gonna be doin mostly trail rides, they arent real tight but they arent wide open fields either, which is better for me. I just wanna rip and tear and have fun

i'd go yfz, if something breaks on it you'll know what it is and it will be cheaper to. you dont want a 2-stroke with that much work just to trail ride, maitance wont be worth it.

if you're just going to trail ride and plan on riding it for long periods of time I'd stick with a 4stroke(yfz). Don't get me wrong, I have a few 2 strokes myself and they are great for racing. Tons of power, but have found that they are not as reliable. Not to mention, the normal upkeep on 2strokes is more involved then just changing out oil/plugs/cleaning airfilters. You have to change rings/pistons/premix gas/etc...

Not to mention, you just can't go into a parts store and buy 250 parts off the shelf most of the time. $3800 for a '04 450 is pretty good as well. depending on hours on it, wrecks/history, and what mods are done to it.

That is a hard decision. I still think the YFZ will handle better, but the LT will be a screamer. Heck, I would buy the Yamaha just because EVERY place has parts for them right now.

Ok thanks. I have also found a 2003 LTZ440 w/ chrome a-arms, a durablue axle, pro taper bars, nerfs, pro design intake, and new rims and tires for $3600. And a 2003 kfz400, mainly stock. Or can u think of any other quads that would be good for me? Which out of those 4 would be fastest?
