Loyal, do you believe your dealer when he says the Kawasaski (a brand no longer stocked) Prairie 650 is no great shakes? Maybe that same dealer can confirm whether each ATV club president will be GIVEN a free $ 7000 US ATV . . .

I'm skeptical on both counts (the 650 is insignificant and ATV club officers will receive free ones).

Yet, pre-judging, let alone "crowning," a product before its production appears extremely premature to me. I'd withold judgment at least until someone RIDES the thing, regardless how attractive the new machine looks on paper. On paper, and in prototype, it looks pretty good!

Diogenes

P.S. Just in case the rumor is true, I'd like the executives at Kawasaki Motors, Canada, LTD, to know: I am President-for-Life of the Canadian-American ATV Club!

according to your words the new sp700 will be "ALL-NEW" compaired to the sp500HO. So this isnt just a sp500Ho with a bigger motor?? how will it differ from the HO??

I really do not think 100lbs weight lose it worth the exspense and effort for the Sportsman.700lbs or 600 lbs it is still a heavy machine and 100lbs would not be felt when your up to that kind of weight. It,s not like you would have anymore luck throwing a 600lb quad around than a 700lb one, heck some times when I double ride I can barely tell there is someone one the back. The Sportsman is one of the heaviest 500 utility made but it is still one of the quickest anyways. The Sportsman is still a Utility and a light weight utility is not as good for plowing, breaking trail throught brush and pulling as a heavier one.

The future Sportsmans can weight 1000lbs and go 80mph if they cram enought engine in it,just leave the jumping to the 400EXs thats what there for.

Diogenes . . .

The dealer seemed a little bitter anout the KAW line in general...you never know KAW headquarters may have pulled the dealership from him???

I too will make my judgement on the 650 when someone throws a leg over one and actually drives it.

My dads Sukuki 5004x4 is 100lbs lighter than my SP and I not throwing that thing around any easier than mine.Let just say some one makes a 450lb 500cc 4wd Utility quad down the road.At that light weight it could not out pull,or push a 650lb SP335 anyways, it may jump better and go faster but they make sport quads for that.As it is now when I throw on my plow I have to add weight to the racks to help keep the bike from swinging sideways when the plow hit the deeper snow or dirt.

3TV Has a free test ride coming on my new Kaw 650. He has owned many bikes and I would trust his judgement. Just hold on for a couple more months my man.

ruby, scrambler, express-2 stroke.......

i agree with the 100 lb. weight issue. i had a 99 griz and '01 h.o. at the same time. the griz is 100 lb's lighter but it's not like i get on the h.o. and say "man this is heavy" i never even noticed a difference. also the h.o. can wheelie and the griz needed a kick in the a$$ to do that.

Out here in Utah I know of at least one dealership that lost The Kaw line because the Kaw rep. thought his machines were getting second billing. This dealership sells about all the brands you can think of. I think Kaw had to do something spectacular to revive its line of atvs......
