Default Removing starter on 01 Scrambler

Ok, I have read the blogs on how to do this but the two screws(7mm os so) on the right side seem impossible to get off. Or at least one of them, that is been the engine case. I have already disconnected the red & black wires to the starter. So now I am wondering how I get the last two off, espacially the one.

Plus, once I get the starter off is there a way to test it to see if it is bad or not? Like how you can take a car starter to Autozone and they can test it.

I'm not sure where you are with this; take the starter case off on the right side: should be about 8 bolts. After removal, there are 2 additional bolts inside that hold the starter and another 2 bolts holding it underneath.

Why don't you take a meter to electrical leads on the starter and have someone push the start button before you take the starter off? If the meter reads power, then it is indeed the starter.

Get on ebay and buy another starter and bendix gear. Its easier, faster, then messing around with the old starter. In your spare time you can tear the old one down, rebuild it and have a spare on hand.

Just an idea...
