i wouldnt worry too much about opening it up a little or even wot as long as you dont hold it there. basicly on any break in its the constant rpm is what you dont want to do. very the rmp(speed) range and drive it some what normal and it'll be fine. i've had 7 new sportsmans and have broke them in all this way w/out any issues. imo.

Thank you guys very much, hopefully the 93 octane fixes this problem, then I could use 91, a little cheaper.
Hopefully I can ride a little "harder" tomorrow as I am going to work now
But, I bet my wife will be out on it a lot this evening!!!

My dealer called back and said to use 91 or 93 octane, as they use the 87 when they filled it at the dealership.

Nice looking XP 850! Looks pretty good in the Camo pattern.
One thing...is that you might need to take a really quick look at your Owner's Manual...and see if it recommends 91 or 93 oct gas. If it does...please report back. I know a lot of us would like that info prior to purchasing a '09 XP.
Also...I am not caring for the rear brake lines. The way they are routed (out in the open)...seems like they could get ripped off easily while out on the trail. I am sure a set of rear protective covers could address that?!? Maybe???
Solid looking machine!

The owners manual just says to use a minimum octane rating of 87.
I also don't care for the way the rear brake lines are routed, I think for the time being I am going to use some black wire tires so they don't get ripped off from sticking out, until I can figure something else out.
Thanks again for the compliments everyone. The seat being more narrow in the front really is a lot more comfortable riding, giving it a more nimble feel.
