I like the camo!

I picked mine up saturday, Ive got just over 150 miles on it so far. I ended up getting the green paint, as thats all the dealership had. I love this thing, its the most comfortable, easy to drive quad Ive ever had. I haven't done any top speed runs yet, but I did race my buddys 07 Renegade about 4 times. His quad walks away every time. Not by a huge margin, but the can-am is definately quicker. I wouldn't trade that difference in speed for the comfort of the polaris though!

If its on dry pavement and you peg it, it will stand straight up without any help.

Heres a couple pics...

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: opie1harMy dealer called back and said to use 91 or 93 octane, as they use the 87 when they filled it at the dealership. </end quote></div>

We can't even get 93 octane gas around here. I can't remember even seeing any 90+ lately. It is base 87 octane and super 89. 90+ octane is a thing of the past around here.

If it requires anything other than 87 or 89 it is going to be a huge deal breaker with me.

For one, I can't get it.

Two, I ride a lot. I live on a farm and I ride very day. Right now, riding an old 425 magnum which gets decent mileage, I go through anywhere between 10-20 gallons a month depending on the season and if I ride to town or not.

It might not sound like a lot of difference between regular and premium gas but it adds up.

like i said before the 850 has 11:1 compression so im pretty sure its going to require 91+ octane.
my 2006 chevy vortec max has 10.1:1 compression and requires 91+, they are both 4 stroke motors so why wouldnt the 850. i just read that the 08 800 i have is a 10:1 compression as well, even though the owners manual says to use a minimum of 87, it backfires just like his 850 is doing, i switched to 93 and it cured it.

you might be able to run 87 octane and octane booster to account for it.

The green looks sweet! I like the camo too as it comes with the black rims which I prefer. Nice rides either way. I too would do something about the break lines. Looks like they would catch something pretty easy. Wonder what the 550 is like power wise? Nothing like the 850 I'm sure. Wanting to trade up in the spring just not sure whether to go 550 or 850.

Thank you very much. If you can afford it, I would highly recommend the 850!!
You won't regret it. The power is absolutlely phenomenol, the more I ride it, the more I can't get over it!!

While normally that may be true...the issue here is that Polaris does not recommend the 90+ octane fuel, but only a minimum of 87. I've owned several German vehicles that all required the higher octane...which was fine because I new it going in. However...if Polaris claims a minimum of 87oct, then the XP 850 should be able to run on 87 or higher octane without any issues.

The real problem could surface while at high altitude. Here in NM...I usually ride at 8000-11,000 ft above sea level. So with the thinner air...it really could develop into a major problem.

IMO...this seems to be a PCM program problem. This might mean...Polaris will be issuing a flash update if more XP 850's have this problem. With a new release vehicle...I have seen it before.

I still think it is the best looking ATV available...and will certainly be heading to one of my local dealers to check them out...as it is the #1 on my list.

Wow...that GREEN looks good! I've never been a big fan of green, but Polaris made it look nice.

Congrats on the new Popo!

Congrats on the new ride, very nice! I see you also got my favorite color..lol.
I bet the 850 has some awsome power. I like many of the changes they made but in all honesty I gotta say that the '08's look better. I know they made the seat narrower for comfort and handling but it just looks weird. One of the selling points for me and the '08 was the wide, big feel. Anyway with all of that being said, I didn't really care for the looks of my current truck when I first bought it either but it has grown into a rather good looking truck. I guess it takes time for changes to soak in sometimes.
Again congrats on the new ride.I love to see a guy get a new toy! I'm also interested in the top speed of that camo beast!

Thank you, I read somewhere, I think on the highlifer forum, that the top speed is around 70+ MPH, I don't know if I will ever go quite that fast, but, well, ya I probably will!!!
