Default Idle issues 96 explorer 400 2 stroke

I am wondering if anyone has any ideas to get my machine to idle. The plug is wet, exhaust is good, reeds are not prefect but ok, I've seen worse, tried a known good carb with no change. Could it be week spark? The machine sat for about 3 or 4 years with the flywheel cover off. We cleaned the magnets before we put it back together. Machine ran fine before it was parked. Any ideas??? It's a 96 explorer 400 2 stroke.

I will assume that you put new gas in it and that the air filter is clean. On a two stroke the mixture screw controls air. Try turning the screw in until lightly seated and then turn it out 2 full turns. from there you can make adjustments, out will be leaner and in will be richer.

check for cracked intake boots and seals around the crank. also check gaskets on the cylinder. these motors have to be air tight or will not right right
