Polaris Sportsman 90 2001 - Too wet?
#1
I just picked up a 2001 Polaris sportsman 90 for my son. It ran fine when I brought it home, but when I washed it completely, it won't start. I assume I got some water in the carb or electronics. Are these quads prone to drown out pretty easily? If so, any way I can seal it off better?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Posssible water in stator area. IF you cant start after sitting a while, remove plastic cover on right side,if have air compressor and blow gun, just blow water out from flywheel/pickup coil area. Also check connections on coil and cdi. Kinda hard to keep water/dust,etc out of the older ones since cover slotted for ventilation! Newer ones have snorkel tubes that do a little better job. Good luck

Actually I just looked at the plug again and noticed that there is a tiny bit of spark. But, it seems very intermittant. Does this mean that the stator is ok. What else could be causing a low intermittant spark? I'm puzzled...

If it ran fine before you washed it,then moisture still probably the problem. Early models did have stator problems partially because of the open area around the stator attracting dirt and mud shorting out stator, but when they are bad NO spark at all! if have compressor, blow out all connections at coil, cdi and try to get behind flywheel area. Good luck
