I have to add to the list of "don't likes":
Most of the skid plates are plastic, some is metal. It is plastic under the cast engine oil pan..I really do not like that! The most important area IMO. I can just see climbing over a downed tree and a 4-5" long branch stub breaking through the oil pan, or at minimum ripping the plastic skids off. The 800 was full metal and pretty much indesructable underneath. Something else to buy, if anyone even makes them yet [img][/img]
Adding to the likes also:
The header has a sweet heat sheild that runs the entire length of the exhaust. You don't even notice it until you look close, it is some type of batting covered with stainless steel shields. You notice NO heat..I mean none at all, when riding
Ironbear-No problem. Keep your eye on Breese's and Don Wood's e-bay stores. They run specials alot. I think the reg price on Breese's is $245 plus shipping, I found another listing for $232 from them, then when I went to check out they gave me a 10% discount on the most expensive item ordered. Ended up perfectly covering shipping. I think it said that special was going until 10/31. If you can't find it give them a call. Them and Don Woods both have always been great for me, they stock alot and ship fast.
I ordered and recieved the guards before the machine. Gave me something to do while I was waiting. I preassembled them, they come in 3 pieces(headlight hoops need to be bolted to the center sections). Then bolted them and the winch on the day I brought it home.
Edit-found a Breese listing for $232.75 while looking for something else, says the sale ends within the hour..not sure that's true.
Anyway,here it is:

HighOctane, do you think $250.00 with shipping is a good deal? That's what these folks are offering:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=360092892170
I'm going to see who is going to give me the best deal.
Thanks again

Yeah, that is better than Breese, unless they are still running the 10% off deal.
BTW-when you get it,the parts list for the front says you should have 8 M6 bolts but you will only have 6, you only need 6 it must be a typo. The hoops are held on by 8 bolts, but the top one is M8 to bolt to the mount.

Thank you for the head up on the bolts HighOctane. Breese is currently running a 5% deal now which is $232.75 + $24.50 for shipping that totals $257.25
I'm waiting for Mike to get back to me on how to pay for the items, via Buy it Now with the discounted price.
I will keep you posted.

Just for the heck of it, I took a new 850XP (in full camo) for a ride today at my dealer. Sweet ride, with LOT's, and LOT's of power. The torque is amazing. Probably much more than I would ever need.
Considering I just bought my 2008, I will give them a couple of years to work out any "bugs" that may arise, and then I'm going to get one (probably the 550).
However, I will miss the storage under the front rack. Can't put a lot of stuff in mine, but it is nice to store some of the odds and ends in there.

Did you call Breese's? I got the 5%+10% more. I didn't even see anything about the 10% until I was paying via Paypal. It wasn't even advertised that I saw.

Not yet, but I will contact them today to see what they can do for me. Since you had success with them, then I may use them.
Thanks again

Yeah that bag is a good idea to make use of otherwise wasted space.
On another note; I'm going to go out on a limb and say that so far I think the 850 gets better mileage than my 800 did. I haven't put enough time on it for hard numbers by any means but so far, especially compared to when the 800 was new, it is better. Looks like a good 12-13 MPG so far. Before you choke-I do about 75% low range slow trail stuff,10% mid speed speed trail(20-30 mph constant) and 10% 100 yard sprint, curve, 100yd sprint,curve,100 yd sprint and 5% high speed(over 30 mph constant) During my first tank of same style riding the 800 got about 8-10 lol. I imagine alot of the difference I see is due to the low range gear ratio changing.
Most Popo owners know though, poor mileage is one of the downfalls of the PVT. It keeps the engine in the best RPM range for performance which hurts mileage. If you could control the RPM vs speed lile a manual you could vastly improve mileage if you know what you are doing.

I reset the second trip odometer on mine on Saturday, filled it clear full with 91 octane, then the wife and I went on a 25.5 mile ride, she was on the 700, so we weren't riding double. About 14 or so miles was on dirt roads, doing anywhere from 40 to about 60 MPH. I still haven't opened it up yet to test top speed, but the thing will go from 40 to 60 really fast!!!!! Anyways, the gas gauge only went down one bar, probably not enough yet to accurately gague the mileage. But a ballpark around 25 MPG. Since there are five bars on the fuel gague, IF each bar is 25 miles, with a 5.25 gallon tank. Like I said, this is just a ballpark estimate until I get closer to emptying the tank, the weather just won't cooperate, either snowing or raining, and when its nice I'm either in school or at work. Working full time and school part time really blows!!! This last trip it was in high range the whole time, and the break in time is finally over!!!!!!
