wheel spacers,,dumb question

why would get offset and not spacers... is there a down fall or some kind of wear?</end quote></div>
Wheel spacers are harder on parts. Wheel bearings, ball joints ect. Think about the leverage they create. I couldn't believe it when I read people using 1 1/2" spacers..wow.
Offset wheels are better.

If your wheels or spacers move the tires out they're still out there. Don't offset wheels create the same problems because of the extra leverage they create? I heard that they do a lot off damage to cars with extreme offsets. That's the ones I refer to as Hot Wheels cars. They look more like toys than serious cars.

Yes they cause issues if the offset is extreme also, but IMO the mechanics is different with an offset wheel IMO. I don't think 1" change in offset is as significant of a load change as a 1" spacer. I'm not and engineer,I could be wrong. That's just how I see it.

I would think 1" is 1" no matter how is done. Length x force whether it is a bolted on spacer or offset rim.</end quote></div>
You're probably right, I think I might be over thinking it. I was just thinking that unless the offset is extreme that the design of an offset wheel causes the load to be in a vertical plane, and that load is place at the hub. Wheras the spacer moves the load father hub and thus from the ball joints creating leverage.

If I ever bought wheel spacers I would only get some like this. http://www.drivenproductsinc.com/ATVproducts.html</end quote></div>
3" is WAY too much. All you more than likely need is a 1" spacer.
If you go that wide, you will put extra stress/wear on all components BIG TIME!
And good luck making it through the tight trails.
