Trailboss Intermitent Spark
#1
Bike - 1990 250 Trail Boss 2x4
Symptoms - Won't start. Spark plug is wet and i smell gas (Flooding). I am getting intermitant spark at my spark plug. Tried both Pull start and Elec Start. 105 PSI compression cold. I dont have a manual to use.
I have trouble shot it to this point:
1. Bought new plug. Tried both old and new and ground it to head or frame (Result - No Spark)
2. Pulled front cover for access to CDI - Remove Black ground from CDI (Result - SPARK) Read this on another post. Now what?
3. Put black wire back on (Result - No Spark)
4. Verified wiring to handle bar switch (Result - No apparent Grounding and breaks)
5. Pulled switch apart and everything is tight (Cleaned and steel wooled contracts)
I don't have a ohm meter.
Questions:
How can I verify handle bar switch?
Is there a way to bypass this switch? Can I do a Jumper?
What do i check next and how?
Thanks

You know what? It sounds like the same problem i just had with my 05 trailboss. Took my mech over 30 hours to figure out. Turns out its the starter cylenoid. If you have not figured out the problem with yours, i would say call up polaris and tell them whats going on. They might fess up and say that its that same deal. They sent me a new wiring harness and a totaly new looking piece. I will be getting that quad back sometime this week, I can ask my mech and let you know exactly what part to ask for. I couldnt get anything going on with the quad. It was totaly dead except when I put the battery on, would get something huming, but otherwise no start, not even pull start. Sounds kind of like the same thing, hope that helps.
