Default Worried about bypassing rev limiter

My 94 Sportsman 400 4X4 now stalls out when I shift into reverse. Someone suggested unplugging the black wire from the rev limiter. Well..... it works now, shifts into reverse fine & does not stall out & die on me anymore. My worried it will have long term ill effects if I get the RPMs too high. Could it actually cause damage ? Should I be concerned.

It's not really there to prevent damage............it is a saftey issue.....
The reason for the limiter is so you will not loose control backing up at high speeds.....
So with children driving the Quad or other people you may let ride.........Yes it will be a problem.........
.......Caper...........

OK cool !
I was thinking that while moving forward it would not govern the RPMs at high rev and I could damage the engine or something. I may still look for a cheap-O on eBay.
